Olde English Trifle.
Could this be my homage to Fanny Cradock?
A truly vintage look, circa 1975.
The whipped cream christmas trees, piped onto a layer of custard, are decorated with glace cherries, mixed peel, and a sprinkling of coloured sugar shapes and strands.
At the base of the trifle there’s sponge left over from a recent Balmoral Cake bake. This is alternately flavoured with almond and pistachio, and is placed in line with the surface christmas tree shapes. In a break from the traditional Sherry, the sponge is soaked in a rich honey Mead.
